Plantar Fasciitis Shoe Inserts

Plantar fasciitis shoe inserts are a cheap way to deal with a serious problem. But just how effective can a $10 solution from your local drug store be in treating this horrible heel condition. Will to be honest it really depends on how badly you have the condition and the best way to determine this is to visit your doctor. He or she will give you some sort of indication as to whether plantar fasciitis shoe inserts will work if if you need more serious treatment.

Firstly, the problem I have with them is that they can be too generic. By this I mean that everyones feet are different and one size absolutely does not fit all. You may find that after using the inserts for a while the pain you feel in the heel area is not changed or in some cases (bad luck cases) it may have got worse. That is because the insert is basically replicating a problem you may already have with your shoes in the sense that it doesn't fit properly! If this is the case then you'll only make the condition worse.

On the upside it is possible to get plantar fasciitis shoe inserts made specifically to fit the shape of your feet. This will give the necessary support to your heel and arch area of the foot and may help you to reduce the pain and stretching of the plantar fascia ligament. Using these specifically made to measure inserts along with a few stretches and exercises as specified by your doctor or physiotherapist may result in a much improved performance of the condition.

Off the shelf inserts are relatively cheap and will probably go for around $10 or so. Ones which are made to measure will obviously go for a little more but it may be worth it in the long run. There have also recently been some advancements in the type of inserts available with plantar fascia socks which are worn on the foot coming on the market. These typically come with a little gel pad on the sole which acts as a buffer between your foot and your shoe. As you foot comes down when running or walking this gel pad cushions your heel and can help to reduce the pain and from making the condition get any worse. These types of socks are excellent because the fit is perfect and the gel moves around to help the area in need.

Advancements are being made all the time for plantar fasciitis treatment options but I would definitely look in to buying orthotic shoe inserts or plantar fasciitis socks. A plantar fasciitis insert could work for you.

I suffered with this recurring nightmare but I've learned to manage it. My first rule is to stop running on pavement. For serious runners this is like not breathing but sometimes it's a culprit. After mastering the treadmill replace your shoes at the first sign of wear. I'm happily running - only 15 miles or so a week but it's better than nothing at all.

Thanks for your comment, it's great to know there are people out there who are managing to cope with plantar fasciitis problems. That's also a great tip for those of you who love to run.
