Puggle The Adorable Pug And Beagle Mix

While the name Puggle sounds like something you may have heard mentioned recently in a Harry Potter movie, it is actually a mixed breed dog. Breeding a male Pug and a female Beagle creates a Puggle. While the American Kennel Club does not yet recognize the Puggle as a breed, it is customary that a male Pug and a female Beagle produce a true Puggle. Puggles have become very popular lately because of some of their famous celebrity owners such as: Uma Thurman, Sylvester Stalone, and who would have thought the tough guy Tony Soprano himself, James Gandolfini even owns a Puggle. The combination of the Pug and the Beagle produces adorable Puggle puppies. While the appearance of a Puggle can vary slightly from litter to litter, most often a Puggle will have the cute wrinkly face of a pug and a curled over tail and the longer folded ears and short slender body of a Beagle. Usually the coloring of a Puggle will be tan with darker brown muzzle.

A Puggle is a relatively small to medium sized dog because of the breed combination. A Puggle can grown to a height of anywhere from 11-15 inches from the shoulder. They can also weight anywhere from 15-30 pounds, of course the female usually are on the smaller end of the weight range.

How Long Does A Puggle Live?

Puggles like most other dogs have a life span of around 12-15 years.

Puggle puppies are very good-natured and carry that trait throught adulthood. Puggles adapt well to any situation therefore, they are ideal for both families with children and other pets or even couples with no children. Begin as Puggle puppies with brushing their coat at least once a week and bathing once a month. It is important to check their ears and keep them clean to avoid infection because they do flop over like a Beagle’s, which can trap bacteria and not allow air to circulate. Also, keep your Puggles nails trimmed and most owners overlook dental care. Using a brush that fits snugly on your finger can be the easiest way to brush the teeth of your Puggle.

It is important to know the facts before researching Puggles for sale. As I stated earlier the Puggle is not an AKC recognized brand and therefore it is important to purchase your Puggle puppies from a reputable breeder or adopt from an animal shelter. If purchasing from a breeder it is always vital to ask to see the Puggle puppy’s mother and/or father. If the breeder tells you this is not possible then do not purchase your Puggle from him or her. Puggles for sale from a pet store are not a good idea in my opinion. You will not be able to see the parents and you have no idea where the Puggle puppies came from. Animal shelters will put the Puggle puppy or adult through the necessary tests such as aggression and temperament before it is available for adoption so you know that it is safe to own as a pet. Please do not be fooled by the words designer dogs. The Puggle is a crossbreed or mutt and their price should reflect that. How much should a Puggle puppy cost you ask? I would advise that Puggles for sale should cost anywhere between $50-150 and the latter should included vaccinations and deworming. Any Puggles for sale should always be at least 8 weeks or older before they are sold or adopted.
